Hi and welcome back

Thanks, not seeing anything out of the ordinary.

When did this all begin to happen? With any additions or upgrades? Is it slow to start, open programs, switch programs?

I believe it was when I upgraded avast within the last week or so. It has been a bit better the last few days but when I would click on the start button all the icons and choices would disappear and I wouldnt get access to certain folders. The last few days have been pretty good but didn't know if you guys could see something that I couldn't. Didnt know if the registry needed cleaning or fixing of some errors also? Thanks

Try uninstalling Avast, see if the system goes back to 'normal'.

I just uninstalled it on my sons system due to him complaining of the same thing and now it's fine.

My own system is fine, but I'm running dial core w\8GIGS of RAM, so I won't likely notice
