Certified-Toolbar removal advice?

Postby nimbus » Sun Nov 18, 2012 9:29 am

Hello,

My Firefox browser seems to have been hijacked by something called Certified-Toolbar. I have run Malwarebytes in an attempt to get rid of it and this seemed to work. However, when I restarted my PC it came back. Can you advise on whether I can remove this myself? I have tried googling for solutions but I have no idea how to alter the registry etc.
Kind regards

nimbus

Hello and w^* to TeMerc Internet Countermeasures Forum and thanks for joining. 1rokon

Fully uninstall Firefox, including profile data(most people don't do this part), see the link below:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox

Then reboot and reinstall, see if that removes it

If not, Lets collect additional information off the system to see if we can spot any issues or conflicts.

Please download DDS from the link below and save it to your desktop:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/dds.scr

*Disable any security software before running(excluding Malwarebytes)
*Steps to disable some common security applications(no need to disable Malwarebytes, it will not cause any issues):
http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=96260

Please double click dds.scr to run the tool.
Vista & Windows 7 users: You must right click on the file above and select "Run As Administrator" to run the tool.
This scan will produce 2 logs and save them to the desktop:
DDS.txt
Attach.txt

We'll proceed based on the output of these files. Please do not reply until both logs are attached and ready to be sent.

Name of files to be attached into your next reply:
dds.txt
attach.txt
