Here are some links which point out some of the issues users will be facing once MS drops support for XP:

While some of them relate on some level to businesses and enterprises, home users need to wake up too and move on to at least Vista.

Re: Time to ditch XP
If only I knew back then, what I know now, that you can still have the Windows XP feel, while running other o/s, I might have switched to other systems sooner.
DAH WHAT?
For those who are confused and frustrated having to learn and deal with newer o/s, fear NOT. There are several third party utilities which will have the newer (Vista, Seven, Eight) systems running on your computer and you'd swear you're still using XP.
GET REAL.
That's right. The only reason I kept using XP was for the look and feel. Along came these utilities START8 and CLASSIC SHELL which transformed the newer o/s, while allowing users to maintain the look and feel of their old XP. Hell they even brought back the Start Menu for Windows 8. As a die hard XP fan, I was and am happy to pass on this information to others out there. Wish someone informed me earlier that an o/s is just an o/s, and there are utilities out there that can help one keep the illusion, Mindblower!

Re: Time to ditch XP
I have XP on 2 other systems here (not including 2 test machines which will keep it (for the forseeable future)) and will stick with that OS on them, till XP is officially dead unless fortune comes my way and I can afford to get Windows 7 licences for them. The other problem is getting my other half to accept the change

Amazon has some pretty cheap upgrades to like Vista or W7. But then you're stuck with an older, slow system still. Guess better off to save up and buy a new box altogether.

That is another option I have considered. Will see how the money is next year and maybe go down that route.

Re: Time to ditch XP
I two still have computers using XP, but they are for OFFLINE work. The odd time I connect, it takes forever to d/l and install all the new patches, so it's rarely online, Mindblower!
