Mystery File

Postby JeanInMontana » Mon Sep 18, 2006 9:14 pm

I have been working with a member of WXPC cleaning up a 98SE machine and she found this file, sharkv1us.exe; and wanted to know what it was. I stuck it in Google and got nothing. I checked the Process Library and struck out there also. Anyone know what it is?

It's certainly not a standard Windows file. Has she ran it through Jotti?

That was my advice. I also asked for the results to be posted. We will see.

When I ran it through Google, I got one hit - which turned out to be - er - here

Using a more generic "shark.exe" in the search, I got a number of hits that suggested it might be software specific to Tablet PCs - does that ring any bells with you or your member?

Hehehe Hi Poet. Another member got hits when he added "trojan" to the search. I had to go through an explanation with him as to why that is not a valid way to find information.

The PC is not a notebook as far as I know. It is a 98SE and Jotti's said the file was clean. I do think it is related to some sort of software because she found it in the Add/Remove programs and then found a folder for it also.

I didn't ask how anyone could have a program installed and not know it when asked about the details what it was. I guess that program doesn't get used much.....
